Lore: Defiants - Eth

Throughout Terminus there are representative from the defiant races; Eth, Bahmi, and Kelari.  These representatives give a basic introduction to their own struggles, as well as paint a greater picture of the Defiant organization as a whole.

Eth are painted as competent survivors.  As retold by Kaspar Massi, a peg-legged Eth with an traditionally coastal accent, "Eth made their home in the deserts of the sourth.  They managed to survive by being resourceful and using their wits.  They discovered Magitech, and it built them a great empire.  They lost it, though; buried it in the sands when dragon cults infested their labs.  Now we are taking it back to beat back the Blood Storm!"

Destroying their laboratories rather than allowing the Blood Storm to take possession may have afforded Telara decades of future life, as well as provided the necessary spark Orphiel needed for Defiant Ascension.  If the Eth of the lost empire had simply destroyed the machines, rather than bury them in the sands of the desert, later Defiants would not have found the partial plans they would later build to a full working life factory.

Other Eth encountered in Terminus are Brother Damon, Isach Undugar, Igncia Bulwart, Quaeni Nidain, Raj Tahleed, Kain Sunsworn, and, most notably, Asha Catari - the Defiant General.

Asha Catari is the first Defiant ascended to be returned with any significant power.  She was resurected by Orphiel himself, in the first life factory.

Asha Catari and Sylver Valis
"I died, like you, but was brought back by the original resurrection machines.  Beyond death, I confronted Regulos.  He asked me to be his avatar.  I refused.  These markings are the result of the terrible power he burned into me; a power I am at least able to use now to fight back against the bastard."
- Asha Catari on her unique markings.

More historical information, specifically knowledge about Asha's death, would give more insight into this transaction.  Did Regulos want Asha to be his avatar before he took on Aedraxis as a pawn, or was it at some later point?  Was Asha ascended with power from an ascended soul or from Regulos himself.

A final notable person to mention on this Eth rundown is the Faceless man.  Although he does not share his race, and a mask obscures his face, his size would exclude Kelari, and his coloring suggests Eth or the palest Bahmi.  The Faceless Man was once a member of the Abyssal Cult.  He 'did unspeakable things.  No mater what [he does, he has] lost the man [he] was before [he] joined them."  His race, therefor, may not be reflected by his allegiance.  Because of this he may be a Bahmi, Eth, or mathosian.
